Injured Fireman Out of Hospital

One of the firefighters injured by falling equipment at the Deutsche Bank building was released from the hospital yesterday and greeted by a sea of his fellow Bravest who gave him a long standing ovation.

"I feel good," said William Corbetis, of Queens, as he was wheeled out of St. Vincent's Hospital.

Beaming, he gave a thumbs-up to the 200 firefighters who stood outside the Seventh Avenue entrance.

"It gives me the strength to go on," he said of the phalanx of supporters, which included Neil Nally, the firefighter hurt with Corbetis on Aug. 23. A pallet jack fell from the 23rd floor onto a construction shed, which then collapsed onto them.

Firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino were killed five days earlier in a blaze at the building.

One of Corbetis' family members told The Post that the fireman - who had his spleen removed, 100 staples placed in his head, and suffered a fractured vertebrae in his neck and a broken rib - was still hurting despite his cheery appearance.

"He says he's feeling fine, but he's not fine," said the relative, who asked not to be identified, at Corbetis' home in Jackson Heights.
