Engine 156/Ladder 79 Wins Island FDNY Title

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Engine 156/Ladder 79 captured its first-ever Staten Island FDNY title by winning three games yesterday, including a 10-4 triumph over Engine 165/Ladder 85 in the championship game.

The winners advance to the eight-team city championships set for the week of Sept. 3rd at Randall's Island, Manhattan.

Charlie Van Pelt was the winning pitcher in all three games, and the offense was led by Ron Lowery and Chris Carrier. Shortstop Tony Manero sparkled in the field.
