Seven Firefighters Injured in Apartment Fire

by (New York-WABC, May 16, 2005) — Nine people are injured, including seven firefighters, after a fire in a Washington Heights apartment building.

Fire officials tell Eyewitness News, the blaze broke out in a third floor apartment inside 611 158th Street just before nine o'clock last night. Firefighters battled the heavy smoke and flames shooting out the window.
Seven firefighters were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for minor injuries. Two residents were also taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
