Angry firefighters are expected to take a "no confidence" vote against Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.
Delegates of the Uniformed Firefighters Association tell NY1 that the vote will take place at a union meeting on Tuesday.
The vote has no formal consequences; it’s strictly symbolic.
The union is upset by the lack of a new contract and the Fire Department's recent staffing changes in response to the high rate of medical leave, as outlined in the contract. Last week, 49 engine companies were cut to four firefighters on each truck, leaving just 11 of the city’s 197 engine companies with five-man crews.
The commissioner also transferred 20 firefighters with high absence rates. The union is suing to block those transfers.
