Firefighters sawed through a window to rescue two window washers stuck dangling outside a high-rise office building in Manhattan Tuesday. The window washers were stranded at the seventh floor of 11 Madison Avenue, in the Flatiron District, just before noon. Firefighters used a special saw to cut a hole in the glass, and they pulled them inside to safety. “Ladder 12 already had their basket up, but it came up just short,” said FDNY Lieutenant Mickey Conboy. “So, the chief sent us up to evaluate the situation. And with everything happening, we just had a situation where we could use our special tool." Fire officials said the men are doing well. The rescue mission was completed in under an hour, the officials added. “They weren’t in any trouble,” said firefighter Mike Geidel. “They weren’t worried. It’s no big deal; we’ve done it before.”
