Two Men Rescued From Drowning Off Rockaway Beach

Firefighters pulled off the daring rescue of two men who were drowning in the waters off Queens Thursday.

The two men were struggling in the waters off Rockaway Beach this evening when an eyewitness called 911. Firefighters from Ladder Company 137 who rushed to the scene got onto their surfboards, battled some rough currents, and got out to the men.

The firefighters brought the victims back to shore, where paramedics performed CPR.

A 24-year-old was airlifted to Peninsula General Hospital in serious condition. A 17-year-old was taken by EMS in stable condition.
