Motorcycle Ride Raises Money For 9/11 Memorial At Firehouse

NY 1

Over 1,000 bikers roared through Manhattan Sunday to raise money for a memorial to firefighters who died in the September 11 attacks.

The goal of the motorcycle ride from Long Island to the World Trade Center site was to build a permanent memorial inside Lower Manhattan firehouse of Engine Company 10.

“We want this permanent,” said Pete Dancona of Engine 10. “We want this here forever. So we are going to raise a lot of money to make this thing out of stone.”

Some bikers came from as far away as New Hampshire and Massachusetts to take part.
