Over 1,000 bikers roared through Manhattan Sunday to raise money for a memorial to firefighters who died in the September 11 attacks.
The goal of the motorcycle ride from Long Island to the World Trade Center site was to build a permanent memorial inside Lower Manhattan firehouse of Engine Company 10.
“We want this permanent,†said Pete Dancona of Engine 10. “We want this here forever. So we are going to raise a lot of money to make this thing out of stone.â€
Some bikers came from as far away as New Hampshire and Massachusetts to take part.
