NY 1

by an SUV early Saturday morning on the Upper East Side.

Police say the officers were driving west on 83rd Street when a year 2000 black Dodge Durango, traveling north on First Avenue, ran a red light and hit their patrol car.

One officer was pinned inside, and fire rescue crews had to peel off the roof of the car to get him out. Both officers were taken to New York Hospital in stable condition.

The 21-year-old driver got a ticket for going through a red light.
