Firefighters in Harlem yesterday afternoon used a net to remove an 800-pound man from his home so he could be rushed to the hospital to be treated for breathing problems.

The unusual incident unfolded about 3 p.m. when an EMS crew was dispatched to an apartment on Riverside Dr., near West 151st Street, to assist a man in his 30s who was having trouble breathing. Once there, however, it was clear they needed assistance in removing the man. Firefighters called to the scene used net typically used on cargo ships to carry the man out a back door, the Fire Department said. The man was then transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
