One dead, two hurt in Queens residential fire

NEW YORK (AP) One person was killed and two firefighters were hurt in a two-alarm fire in the Woodhaven section of Queens, the fire department said.

Both firefighters were in stable condition; the identity of the civilian who died was not immediately known.

The fire broke out just after 11:30 p.m. Friday on the first floor of 85-33 98th Street, a two-story private home, according to Firefighter Paul Iannizzotto, a department spokesman.

About 110 firefighters responded to the blaze and brought it under control at about 12:06 a.m. Saturday, he said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
