- Annual Improved Benefits Plan Opener
Per DO #41, the Improved Benefits Plan is open for membership to all Original Plan Members, from June 1, 2007 to August 31, 2007. For those members who elect to join, the Pension Bureau must receive applications no later than 1700 hours on August 31, 2007. Additional applications may be requested by contacting the Pension Bureau at 718-999-1211.
- 16th Annual Lt. Williams Volleyball Tournament
Monday. June 11th 9AM - 7 PM at Riverside Blvd on the Beach in Long Beach. Cost is $30 per person and money raised goes to Lt. Williams Fund. Tank tops and food will be provided. We have received information from local law enforcement that the Long Beach Police Dept will be closely monitoring our members' behavior at this event. Members are reminded to employ designated drivers, refrain from having open containers in public, to obey all laws, and be respectful of local residents. It is important we show the public at all events - especially those which memorialize our fallen brothers-of the continued professionalism we exhibit on a daily basis.
- FF Heart & Lungs Help
Heart attacks and respiratory problems are leading killers of FFs. Health & Safety Officer Bill Romaka has made arrangements for Rob Brown, RPA-C, to answer questions at the June 14 Union Meeting at the Health & Safety table re heart, lung, asthma, job stress and other health issues important to all FFs. Rob Brown is a Physician Assistant and Director of the NY Firefighters Heart and Lung Institute in Syosset, NY. Rob has also been a NYC Firefighter for over 10 years.
- 7th Annual FDNY Night - Brooklyn Cyclones
Friday July 20th 2007, KeySpan Park, Pre-game activities at 6pm, Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Valley Cats at 7pm. Post-game fireworks. Tickets: $15 Grandstand and $10 Bleacher.
