Car Slams into Pole on Richmond Terrace, Goes Ablaze

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A car slammed into a pole on Richmond Terrace in Livingston Friday morning, prompting a large NYPD and FDNY response.

The incident occurred at Richmond and Tysen Street just before 11 a.m.

The car went ablaze after the incident, according to emergency radio transmissions.

One person was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, said an FDNY spokeswoman.

The NYPD did not immediately have further information.

A photo from the scene shows smoke billowing from the car’s hood.

The vehicle suffered extensive damage to its front end.

Police can be seen searching Tysen Street and Clinton Avenue after the crash.
