STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Three firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries in a blaze that ignited in a Meiers Corners home Friday night, said an FDNY spokesman.
Twelve FDNY units and 60 emergency personal -- consisting or firefighters and emergency service workers -- responded to a call about a basement fire at 81 Quinlan Ave. at about 7:23 p.m., said the spokesman.
The fire was placed under control just before 8 p.m., he said.
The three firefighters who suffered injuries were taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton for treatment, the spokesman said.
Information wasn't immediately available Saturday morning about the injured firefighters' conditions.
Firefighters didn't find anyone at home while extinguishing the blaze, the spokesman said.
