What you need to know about this year's race to benefit first responders.
RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Runners will hit the pavement between Redhook and the Financial District to honor first responders this Sunday.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is hosting its annual 5K run and walk where participants journey from Brooklyn through the Hugh L. Carey tunnel into Lower Manhattan, retracing the steps of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller who ran the route on Sept. 11, 2001 and perished responding to the emergency.
Here's what you need to know about this year's race:
What is the race route?
The Run & Walk starts in Brooklyn at Ikea Parking Lot 9, 1 Beard St., snakes through the Hugh L. Carey tunnel and ends in Manhattan at the corners of West Street and Murray Street.
When does the race kick off?
Sunday, Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m.
How much does registration cost?
From Sept. 25-29registration will run racers $80.
Can I register the day of?
Yes, for $80.
