by climbing onto an air conditioner yesterday, fire officials said.

As smoke poured out the window at 4:20 a.m., the 45-year-old tenant dangled from the air conditioner about 50 feet above the ground in South Jamaica.

Firefighters from Ladder 151 arrived at the Greenway Terrace building and extended the ladder to the window, officials said.

The tenant was rushed to St. John's Queens Hospital in stable condition.

The fire appeared accidental but was under investigation.
