MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A scaffolding collapsed on a Midtown street corner Friday evening after a truck smashed into the structure, city and fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the corner of Third Avenue and East 42nd Street around 5:30 p.m. and are still operating at the scene of the collapse, an FDNY spokesman said. The Department of Buildings will investigate the collapse, a department spokesman said.

One person was taken to Bellevue hospital suffering minor injuries, an FDNY spokesman said.

The scaffolds appears to have collapsed onto a tow truck carrying a number of individual cars, according to photos taken at the scene.
