2018 UFA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE NOW
Applicants must currently be enrolled in college, trade or vocational school. This scholarship is for dependent children of active, retired or deceased Firefighters, Fire Marshals or Marine Wipers who are full-time students up to & including age 23 for UNDERGRADUATE education. Active members and their spouses are also eligible. Dependent children, spouses of LOD deceased UFA members, & dependent children of non-LOD deceased UFA members are eligible to receive scholarships for undergraduate education but must still fill out an application & provide proof of enrollment. The family and friends of Lt. Joseph Cavalieri, FF Christopher Bopp and FF James Bohan have established an A-Team Scholarship in their memory. The scholarship will award a freshman entering a private high school in September 2018 five hundred ($500) dollars each year. The student must submit an essay describing why they want to attend the particular private high school. The student must maintain a C or better average throughout high school. The scholarship competition is open to any child of an active or retired member of the UFA or UFOA. Applicants must submit an essay with parent’s name, address, phone number and work unit. VFW POST 12033 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
One-time scholarships in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded by VFW Post 12033 annually to one male and one female recipient meeting the following criteria: Candidate must be the child or grandchild, either biological or adopted, sponsored by an active or retired member of the FDNY. Candidate's parent or grandparent must have served on active duty (DD-214) or be currently serving or previously served in a National Guard or Reserve Unit. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with intentions of attending a college or an accredited trade school. Scholarship winner will be determined by drawing names from a hat. Scholarship applications must be submitted to the VFW Post 12033 Scholarship Committee before SEPTEMBER 1st of the student's high school graduation year. Completed applications should be mailed to VFW Post 12033, P.O. Box 38, Thiels, NY 10984. Scholarships will be awarded after the first semester under further stipulations.
