CHELSEA, NY — A Lincoln Navigator careened into a T-Mobile store on Sixth Avenue at West 17th Street Monday afternoon, injuring at least four, the FDNY said.
The black SUV hopped the curb and veered into the Sixth Avenue phone store just after 2:30 p.m. Four people with minor injuries were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, an FDNY spokeswoman said.
Police said the driver tried to pass another vehicle on Sixth Avenue but collided into another car before smashing into the store, shattering a window.
The front of the car crumpled into the building and the roof collapsed from the impact.
Traffic stalled on the major thoroughfare between West 17th and 18th streets as crowds of onlookers swelled.
