Update: Crash on Upper Level of Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

39 shares By Maura Grunlund grunlund@siadvance.com Update: A crash was reported on the upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and the left lane was blocked for a short period of time, according to a post at 1:44 p.m. on the MTA website.

The crash on the upper level has been cleared, with residual delays, the MTA said.

Update: The right lane remains blocked while two lanes have been reopened on the lower level, according to the MTA.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Lane closures are reported on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Brooklyn-bound due to FDNY activity on Friday afternoon.

The FDNY is responding to a report at 1:09 p.m. of a car fire, said a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

So far, no injuries are reported.

All lanes are blocked eastbound on the lower level, according to the MTA.

Vehicles are being diverted to the upper level, according to the MTA.
