The popular Financial District bar The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog announced Sunday it was indefinitely shutting down because of a morning fire.
The blaze broke out at the cocktail bar at 30 Waters St. at 7:30 a.m., and 106 firefighters responded, the FDNY said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
“While details are still sparse, we do know that The Dead Rabbit sustained some fire and water damage, the extent of which is now being determined. As such, the bar will be closed until further notice,” Co-Founders and Managing Partners Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry told The Post in a statement, adding that they were full committed to reopening as soon as possible.
“The Dead Rabbit is no stranger to adversity, having opened in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy,” they said. “The bar will bounce back, a bit bruised perhaps, but unbowed, and ready, willing and able to serve our guests.”
The modern Irish pub and restaurant, which opened in 2013, topped “The World’s 50 Best Bars” list in 2016.
Barflies from as far as Belfast, Ireland, commented on the pub’s Facebook post to express their dismay.
“Oh NO! Awful news. I am so sorry to hear. Wishing, praying for speedy repairs, little damage and everyone is safe,” wrote Catherine Boehm Rice.
One firefighter was injured in the inferno.
