STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY responded to a St. George apartment building after a fire started Sunday night.

One person suffered minor injuries in the blaze that broke out on the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue around 7:08 p.m., according to a spokesman for the FDNY.

FDNY personnel and apparatus swarmed the block, and temporarily blocked traffic. The fire was brought under control within an hour.

A tenant who lives within the apartment complex said a woman, who lives in the apartment where the fire started, was helped out by a neighbor.

The FDNY spokesman said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
