FOXHURST, the Bronx — A man is dead after an apparently suspicious fire at a residential building in the Bronx, police sources said Tuesday.

The fire began about 11:30 p.m. Monday on the first floor of a three-story townhouse with 12 apartments at 808 Freeman St., police said.

The FDNY had the flames under control by midnight. Then they discovered the body of Russell Henry on the first floor.

Henry, 35, had significant burns on his body, a source told PIX11. EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The city's medical examiner said the cause and manner of death "are pending further studies, including police investigation."

The FDNY's initial inspection sparked concerns that the blaze may have been intentional, a source told PIX11.

Video of the scene shows little damage to the apartment where Henry was found.

NYPD Crime Scene investigators are working with FDNY fire marshals to determine what caused the fire.
