STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The FDNY has brought a residential fire under control in New Dorp on Monday morning, according to the department's official Twitter feed.
A total of 25 units and 106 members responded to the second-alarm fire that was called at 10:29 a.m. in a two-story residential building at 273 Edison St., said a spokeswoman for the FDNY.
No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control at 11:51 a.m.
The fire was reported on the second story of the occupied, two-story home, the FDNY said.
Heavy flames could be seen shooting out of the roof and second-floor windows of the home.
Thick black smoke billowed into the sky.
A Good Samaritan told the Advance that he saw smoke, knocked on door to alert the residents and three people escaped before the home became engulfed in flames in a matter of minutes.
