A fire broke out Sunday on the seventh floor of a high-rise apartment building in East Harlem, killing one person, firefighters said.
The fire was reported at the 32-story building on First Avenue and 110th Street just before 6 a.m., the FDNY said.
One person was pronounced dead, firefighters said. The identity of the victim wasn't immediately released.
More than 70 firefighters responded to battle the blaze, the FDNY said.
Meanwhile, in Queens, another apartment fire injured nine people, including a firefighter. That fire broke out on the fifth floor of a six-story building on Ocean Promenade in Belle Harbor, the FDNY said.
Four of the victims were seriously hurt, firefighters said. Five others, including the firefighter, suffered minor injuries.
