Nursing Student Indicted for Igniting Deadly Brooklyn Apartment Fire

A Brooklyn grand jury indicted a woman accused of setting a fire that killed two of her neighbors.

Joanna Mei was arrested for igniting a fire in a three-story building on 11th Ave. near 67th St. in Dyker Heights on Nov. 9.

Mei, 22, a nursing student who lives in the building with her family, was allegedly upset with the amount of garbage in the hallways and set fire to an overflowing trash can. The blaze killed a married couple, Xi Huang, 58, and Feng Xu, 56.

Mei was charged with two counts of murder, arson and other charges and will be arraigned on the indictment on Dec. 11.
