Small Fire Breaks out in Banquet Room at New York Hilton Midtown

NY Daily News - November 13, 2017

A small rubbish fire broke out in a banquet room of the New York Hilton Midtown Sunday morning, officials said.

The FDNY said the call came in at 6:40 a.m. about the fire on the fourth floor of the 45-story hotel on Sixth Ave. near 53rd St.

Roughly 80 firefighters responded and had the small blaze under control just before 9 a.m., authorities said.

Medics took three civilians to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital with minor injuries.

FDNY Fire Marshals were investigating the cause of the fire.

The hotel was not fully evacuated, but tweets from the scene described confusion.

“Elderly folk struggling down from 42nd floor lugging suitcases,” wrote Ross Coulthart on Twitter.
