Dyker Heights Fire Leaves 2 Dead, Firefighters Injured: FDNY

The fire tore through an apartment building Thursday morning.

DYKER HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Two people are dead after a fire tore through an apartment building in Dyker Heights on Thursday morning, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out around 7 a.m. at the building on 11th Avenue, near 67th Street, the FDNY said. Helicopter footage from NBC New York showed bright orange flames shooting from the building.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries, and one person suffered a serious injury. Four other patients had minor injuries, the FDNY said. They were all taken to area hospitals.

Two people were pronounced dead on scene, according to the FDNY.
