Upper West Side Fire: Car Bursts Into Flames Near Central Park

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A car burst into flames Friday morning on the Upper West Side, sending plumes of smoke that could be seen from within Central Park.

The car fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. in front of 485 Central Park West, between West 108th and 109th streets, an FDNY spokeswoman said. The car, which became fully engulfed in flames, was unoccupied and no injuries were reported, an FDNY spokeswoman told Patch.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, an FDNY spokeswoman told Patch.

One witness noticed smoke from the fire while walking in Central Park.
