Body Found in Vacant Queens House after FDNY Battles Fire

NY Daily News - September 27, 2017

Firefighters found a body after battling a blaze in a boarded-up Queens house Tuesday night, officials said.

The blaze broke out on the second floor of a two-story house on 114th St. near 101st. Ave. in Richmond Hill at about 9:50 p.m., fire officials said. Firefighters brought the flames under control just before 10:30 p.m.

Records show the city Buildings Department issued a full-vacate order for the house in 2009 after determining it was unsafe and was illegally converted into single rooms.

Since then, the city has received several neighborhood complaints about squatters and broken doors.

An FDNY spokesman couldn’t immediately say if the body belonged to a squatter.
