Three Injured in Bronx Building Facade Collapse

NY Daily News - September 26, 2017

A building facade in the Bronx collapsed Sunday night, injuring three people — one critically, fire officials said.

Chunks of the crumbling six-story building fell onto the busy sidewalk lined with businesses below on E. 149th St. near Melrose Ave. around 10:30 p.m., as seen in video from ABC 7.

Two people suffered minor injuries during the collapse, while a third person was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

A subway entrance to the 3rd Ave.-149 St. station was just feet from the collapse.

MTA officials noted that 2 and 5 trains were running at reduced speeds due to an “unstable building on street level.”
