Nine people, including three children, were injured in a smoky fire in the Ebbets Field apartments in Brooklyn last night, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out about 8:40 p.m. at 47 McKeever Place in Crown Heights, authorities said. Smoke billowed up the elevator shaft of the 25-story building, officials said.

Most of the injured were on the 22nd floor, one floor above where the fire started.

The victims were being treated on the scene, mostly for smoke inhalation, before being taken to Kings County and Methodist hospitals, officials said.

Some 80 firefighters responded and brought the blaze under control at 11:40 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, officials said.
