Brownsville Fire in Junkyard Sends Smoke Pouring into Sky

The fire on Pitkin Avenue started around 10:30 a.m.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a blaze in a junkyard in Brownsville on Thursday morning.

The fire, near the intersection of Pitkin Avenue and Junius Street, appears to be coming from a commercial junkyard in the area, an FDNY spokeswoman told Patch.

The fire started around 10:30 a.m., the FDNY said, and no injuries have been reported.

The blaze sent smoke into the sky that could be seen in the surrounding area.
