Update: Firefighter Injured in Fire at Richmond Terrace Houses

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A firefighter suffered a minor injury in a blaze at the Richmond Terrace Houses on Jersey Street in New Brighton on Thursday morning.

The firefighter was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, said a spokeswoman for the FDNY/EMS.

The "multiple-dwelling" fire called at 7:02 a.m. at 61 Jersey St. was brought under control in less than an hour at 7:52 a.m., according to the FDNY spokeswoman and Twitter feed.

About 12 units and 60 members responded to the "all-hands" fire on the sixth floor of the eight-story brick building, according to the FDNY Twitter feed and a spokeswoman.
