Hunts Point Fire: Blaze Sends Smoke Billowing Throughout Bronx, FDNY Says

HUNTS POINT, BRONX — At least ten people were injured in a major blaze in a Hunts Point building on Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire, reported at 860 Hunts Point Ave. on Tuesday at about 1:10 p.m., sent smoke billowing throughout the neighborhood, the city's emergency notification system said in a tweet. At its peak, nearly 170 firefighters battled the blaze, an FDNY spokesman told Patch. The fire was reported on the building's fourth floor before later spreading to the fifth floor of the structure, according to the FDNY.

The blaze caused a total of ten injuries, none of which were life-threatening, the FDNY spokesman said. Four civilians and six firefighters were hurt.
