WTC Suspicious Package is Cleared

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A PATH train was evacuated at the World Trade Center and service was suspended due to a suspicious package found at the station, according published reports.

A suspicious package was found at the station, published reports say. K-9 dogs that are trained to detect bombs are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing, according to reports.

A witness told the Advance that the Oculus at the World Trade Center has been evacuated and closed off to the public. The New York Police Department, FDNY and EMS and New York State Troopers with machine guns were on scene.

People were being diverted away from the World Trade Center via a path near the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The witness said Greenwich Street, near the World Trade Center, has been closed off.

According to a tweet by the Port Authority, service has been suspended due to police activity. Passengers should avoid the station. The train in question arrived from Newark.
