A New York City firefighter died on Thursday after falling from the roof of an apartment building in Queens, a Fire Department official said.
The firefighter, whose name was not immediately released, was part of a group of firefighters battling a fire that had started in a second-floor apartment of the building in the Ridgewood neighborhood around 2 p.m., the official said. The fire was controlled around 3 p.m., the official said.
The firefighter was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
Three other people were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the official said.
