MEMORIAL MASS
On Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1000 hours, E-24/L-5/B-2 will have a Memorial Mass honoring the memory of Captain John J. Drennan, L-5, FF James F. Young, E-24 and FF Christopher J. Siedenburg, E-24, who made the supreme sacrifice on March 28, 1994. The mass will take place at St. Anthony's Church located at Sullivan and West Houston Streets, Manhattan. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.


FDNY BASEBALL TRYOUTS
FDNY Baseball is holding tryouts for the upcoming Baseball season which includes playing under the lights at MCU Park on August 25th and participating in the 2017 World Fire Police games held in Los Angeles from August 10-14.

Tryout dates are March 29th, April 6th and April 11th at Victory Field (Forest Park) in Queens. Woodhaven Blvd and Myrtle Ave. 10:30AM to 1PM each day.


COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Applications for the NYS Honorary Fire Chiefs and NYS Professional Firefighters 2017 Ted Green Memorial College Scholarships are now available. Postmark deadline to submit application is May 19, 2017. Submit all information to: NYS Professional Firefighters Association, 174 Washington Ave., Albany, NY, 12210

Eligibility: The scholarship competition is open to high school seniors and recent high school graduates who will not have completed more than one year of college by September 2017.

  • Applicant must not have graduated from high school before 2016.
  • Applicant must be a child of an active uniformed union member of the NYS Professional Firefighters Association.
  • Members of the Executive Board or employees of the NYS Professional Firefighters Association or their children are not eligible.

Announcement of Winners: Scholarship winners will be announced at the 79th Annual Convention of the NYSPFFA, Syracuse, NY, June 26-29, 2017. Awards: Awards are made when the recipient has registered at an accredited undergraduate college as a full-time student or any school furthering education beyond high school.

Amount: An award of $2500 is given to those students who are selected.

College Entrance Exams: Applicants will be required to take the SAT or ACT test. Students must have taken this examination no later than January of 2017.

Scholarship Essay: Approximately 400-500 words indicating why you should be the recipient of the award.
