FDNY Memorial Services and Ceremonies Commemorating The 15th Anniversary of WTC Attacks - 2016-09-11

The FDNY will host or participate in a number of commemorative ceremonies to honor the 343 members lost on September 11, 2001 including:

  • The National September 11th Memorial Plaza WTC Site
    Sunday, September 11, 2016, the City will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. The observance will take place at Liberty Street and Trinity Place on the morning of September 11th.

    Family members of the victims who perished in 2001 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, as well as the six victims of the 1993 WTC bombing, have been invited to participate in this year's reading of the names.

  • At Firemen's Monument
    On September 11th at 9:30am, members of Battalion 18 will host the annual Memorial Services at the Firemen's Monument on Riverside Drive and 100th Street. All members and their families are invited to attend. A Mass at St. John the Divine will follow at 12:15pm.

  • 15th Anniversary in Memory of Our Fallen Heroes
    On Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 1500-1700 hours, a memorial service will be held at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan honoring the 343 members of the Department who died on September 11, 2001, and the 127 members who succumbed to WTC-related illnesses as a result of their work in the rescue and recovery effort following the terrorist attacks.

    Family members of the fallen will be given priority seating inside the Cathedral, located on 5th Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets. While there will be limited seating and standing room at the rear of the Cathedral for FDNY personnel, the service will be simulcast and additional seating will be available in St. Thomas Church at 1 West 53rd Street on 5th Avenue. At 1300 hours, active and retired uniformed members will be invited to line 5th Avenue at 51st Street as a mark of respect as the honor families arrive.
