NY Times

An 88-year-old Bronx woman died yesterday after a fire broke out at her home, the authorities said.

The woman was found dead inside her home in the Baychester section after firefighters extinguished the blaze at about 7 p.m., the police said. Her name had not been released last night, pending notification of her relatives.

The police said that the woman's death was not considered suspicious but that an investigation was continuing.

The cause of the fire, on Edson Avenue near Givan Avenue, was not immediately clear.
