Hundreds of firefighters were still on scene Wednesday morning

(CBS)QUEENS A row of stores went up in flames in Queens early Wednesday morning.

It was a really stubborn fire on 31st street that closed two blocks near Ditmars Boulevard. It also shutdown the N and W subway lines in the area temporarily.

The fire happened at a row of businesses right off Ditmars Boulevard.

Residents who lived near this commercial strip were rudely awakened in the middle of the night.

Eyewitnesses also say the fire looks like it started on the roof of one of the two-story businesses perhaps in the air conditioning vents.

Meanwhile, over 40 firefighter units were in the area using 170 firefighters. However, there were no serious injuries from this fire and subway service is now back to normal.
