Vacancy in the Office of UFA Staten Island Trustee
All members are advised that effective August 13th, Donald Ruland will vacate his position as Staten Island Trustee. Pursuant to the UFA Constitution, President Steve Cassidy is mandated to appoint an Interim Staten Island Trustee until the ballots for a special election to decide a successor are counted. Any Staten Island member interested in being appointed to Interim Staten Island Trustee must contact the Recording Secretary's office at 212-683-4832 as soon as possible.Any Staten Island member wishing to run for the office of Staten Island Trustee must submit nominating petitions, signed by at least 50 active Staten Island firefighters in good standing by 5 PM on August 27, 2012. Those petitions must be submitted by hand or by mail and received by the office of the Recording Secretary by that deadline. The address for hand or mail delivery is:

The petitions will be validated by the Election Committee on August 28, 2012. Nominations for the office of Staten Island Trustee will be made at the Nomination meeting on August 29, 2012, at a location to be determined. It is anticipated that ballots to determine the new Staten Island Trustee will be sent out on or after September 20, 2012 and that the results will be determined on or about October 9, 2012.
