by Staten Island Advance Sports DeskThe NYPD Finest and the NYFD Bravest are hosting the Wounded Warrior Project at the game and presenting them with a donation. Several wounded warriors and their familes are expected.
The game, sponsoired by the New York Daily News, will also host and benefit a Staten Island-based charity -- The Gianna Nicole's Heart of Hope Foundation. It is a non-profit organization that raises money to directly help families that have children who are fighting pediatric cancer.
Many Staten Islanders will be involved in the game.
The NYPD squad has three coaches from the Island -- Detective Eddie Britain (tight ends), P.O. James Pedro (running backs), and Detective Anthony Hernandez (assistant GM, treasurer and defensive line coach).
Other local products who are starters include Detective Randy Litrell (quarterback), Detective Louis Basabe (linebacker) and P.O. Christian Ricciardi (offensive lineman).
