Woman in Critical Condition After Fire in Staten Island Home

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A 50-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition after she was pulled from a Port Richmond house fire unresponsive, a Fire Department official on the scene said. Firefighters found the woman, whose name has not yet been released, unconscious in the second-floor apartment bedroom at 68 Eldridge Ave.

Officials performed CPR at the scene.

Firefighters received a 911 call about flames shooting out of a window on the second-floor of the two-story home at approximately 12:50 p.m.

When they arrived, the found the blaze focused in the living room/couch area of the apartment.

In searching the home they found the woman in the bedroom.
