2 FDNY Firefighters Burned in Brooklyn Blaze

Associated Press - December 20, 2011

NEW YORK (AP) - Two New York City firefighters have been severely burned in a blaze at a Brooklyn apartment and are in serious condition.

The Fire Department of New York says the two firefighters from Rescue 2 were taken to the Weill Cornell burn center in Manhattan. They were awake and alert, but seriously injured.

They were responding to a two-alarm fire Monday in the top floor of a three-story brownstone in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. More than 100 firefighters and emergency crews responded to the scene.

Three other firefighters were hurt and hospitalized with more minor injuries.

The FDNY says the fire is under investigation and at this time it's not believed to be suspicious.
