N.Y.C. FIREFIGHTERS ESTABLISH SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR CHILDREN OF RECENTLY DECEASED BRONX FIREFIGHTER
New York City firefighters have established The Kerr Educational Fund in memory of Firefighter Kenneth Kerr, who died in the line of duty on November 15, moments after battling a fire in a Bronx apartment building. Firefighter Kerr was just 44 years old at the time of his death. He was a 15 year veteran of the FDNY and served his entire career with Engine 90 in the Bronx. Firefighter Kerr leaves behind a wife and four young children, ages 4, 8, 9 and 11. Those wishing to make donations to The Kerr Educational Fund can send them to: The Kerr Educational Fund, c/o Engine Company 90/FDNY, 1841 White Plains Road, Bronx, New York, 10462. Please note that charities established by the New York City firefighter unions or members of the FDNY do not engage in telephone or mail solicitations. We urge individuals who are interested in making contributions to send donations to the above address. Individuals who are solicited by telemarketers or mail solicitations in the name of firefighters should avoid making contributions unless they have checked with the UFA first.

NEW YORK STATE COMMUNITY MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Once again, this grand annual event for handicapped children will be held at Kennedy Airport. We urgently need Christmas volunteers, wearing anything identifying yourself as a firefighter, on Tuesday, December 5 (preparation/setup) and Wednesday, December 6 (party day). Assistance is needed on both days, especially Tuesday from 0900 hours until noon. Wednesday’s recommended hours are 0830 until 1300 hours. Many agencies partake in this grand event (FBI, DEA, NYPD, Sanitation, etc.). Join Santa, who arrives via a 747 jet, personalities from the W.W.F. and others in brightening the day with holiday cheer and you will be guaranteed a gratifying experience. These special children really need you to assist them in getting on and off the buses. Please turn out.
“NO MAN IS SO TALL AS WHEN HE STOOPS TO HELP A HANDICAPPED CHILD”. Take the Van Wyck Expressway South to Federal Circle and follow signs to the hangar being used. A collation will follow Wednesday’s party as a show of thanks.

10-14 ENGINE REINSTATED ON MONDAY 11/21/00
The Fire Department has reacted to the UFA’s legal briefs by reinstating all the 10-14 response policies. They also saw fit to remove the two engine minimum response to reported structural alarms. Everything goes back to the way it was prior to the Two In/Two Out policy enactment. A minimum of one engine and one ladder are dispatched to every ERS or telephone alarm. Any single source report of a structural alarm which is acknowledged 10-14 by a 4 firefighter engine (either 1st or 2nd due) will command the dispatch of an additional engine. Status quo until further notice.
