TENTATIVE WAGE PACKAGE SETTLEMENT - PART I UNIT BARGAINING TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY - PART II On Thursday night, July 26th, the 13 union Uniformed Forces Coalition agreed to a tentative wage package - bargaining agreement. This is the major portion of a soon to be complete contract proposal. We will immediately begin our unit bargaining with the FDNY and Labor Relations offices. The UFA will be demanding productivity compensation for the expanded CFR-D program. The breakdown of how the 1.5% discretionary funding will be spent should be disseminated shortly. All this will be discussed with the Battalion Advisory Committee as soon as completed. Then our lengthy voting procedure can begin. There will be full details, when available, mailed to all units and members homes. A general union meeting will be held to fully explain and discuss the finished product. A special contract issue FireLines will be mailed to all homes next week Dont start, or listen to, rumors. Dont believe any of the absurd lies on unsigned flyers. Unsigned flyers should always be discarded. We will fully explain this very complicated agreement and complex PERB process. There are a few facts that you must fully understand to make an educated decision. You will then see that options are limited. Basic details as follows: Existing UFA contract expired 5/31/00. Tentative Agreement of 30 months, term being 6/1/00 through 11/30/02. 6/1/00 = base wage increase of 5%. 6/1/01 = base wage increase of 5% compounded. Compound raise to go into effect upon ratification = 10.25%. Retroactive monies for 16/17 months paid in cash (not annuity). 9/1/02 = 1.5% in fringe benefits (to be determined by the UFA shortly). 11/30/02 = $200 (.60%) welfare increase in active and retired SBF. Date of ratification = ITHP 2 1/2% set into motion; reduction of payroll pension deduction and retroactive lump sums into pension account. Please discuss with each other the idea of extending one additional (31st) month at the premium value of .41%, payable on the first day of that month. This is calculated on a 4.92% annualized rate and can be spent on benefits other than base wage (i.e.: an extra $380 per year in annuity). Keep an open mind and offer your feedback to your company and battalion delegates. Think of the economic outlook at what % might be available after next year.
