FAMILIES ABLE TO VISIT WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE
Families of unaccounted for and deceased firefighters will be allowed as requested to briefly visit the site of the World Trade Center. The ongoing rescue and recovery operation necessitates the limiting of groups to 50. Each family will be allowed approximately 5 people. This allows more families to visit. The FDNY will try to accommodate the requests of all families. The families are asked to transport themselves to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to Bldg. #292 (Marine 6). They will be issued onsite I.D. and board the Lexington. After the 20 minute trip to the North Cove Marina at Battery City Park they will be allowed to view the area as part of a group. The visit will be limited to 15-20 minutes in the interest of safety and to allow other families to visit. The times are: Day 11:00 and 12:30, Night 7:00, 8:30 and 10:00. Reservations are needed due to security. Please call (718) 999-2655 or (718) 999-2006. The assistance of the companies in notifying families is requested. This visit seems to assist families in accepting closure and is being done for their benefit.
