Protest on Feb. 5th: FDNY Looting WTC Book Up for Major Award

The WTC Living History Project has announced that on Wednesday, February 5th, 12:00 noon at Union Square Park, (Broadway between 14th and 15th Streets) there will be a peaceful demonstration held protesting William Langewiesche's "American Ground", which falsely accuses FDNY members of looting the WTC before they died. The book was announced as Barnes & Nobles' best selling HISTORY BOOK of 2002, and has recently been nominated for the prestigious 2002 "Book Critics Circle Award" for NON-FICTION.

On September 11, 2001, the actions of the members of FDNY were nothing short of brave and heroic, and that their time was spent saving lives -- not looting jeans. Sworn affidavits from witnesses (of various trades) who were there when the FDNY Apparatus was recovered saying that the "jeans story" did not happen will be presented to the publisher's office (across the street from Union Square), and will also later be presented to the "Book Critics Circle Award" committee and the media.

Please see www.wtclivinghistory.org for further info. Please wear plain clothes, an FD sweatshirt or jacket, (no bunker coats or helmets for this event please).

Fraternally,

Joseph A. Miccio
Recording Secretary,

Stephen J. Cassidy
President
