Free Las Vegas Trips for FFs Who Fill Out the Cornell Survey!
Fill out the survey and you'll be eligible for a free trip for two!!! The UFA is so committed to getting an acceptable return rate that we will be giving away 5 Free Las Vegas trips for two (round-trip airfare, 4 days, 3 nights, hotel accommodations). Winners will be randomly drawn from the group of members who have returned their surveys on or before Friday, October 10th. See 65-2 #61a for more info. Swift Updating of Dependent(s) Status -- Extremely Important!
As we explain to each and every proby class, you MUST update all changes in dependent status as soon as possible after marriage, divorce, births, student eligibility, etc. This must be reinforced by each Delegate to all company members. Since theUFAand FDNY do not co-mingle any personnel information, changes in family status (or address/telephone) must be recorded with BOTH the FDNY and our Security Benefits Fund (SBF) office. We receive more and more calls that dependents are not covered for prescriptions and other coverage because the SBF was never notified of changes or additions. In light of the past few years' tragedies, we see a number of members who failed to update their beneficiaries. Make sure your beneficiaries are updated after the death of any immediate family members. Benefits can not be paid out to people who no longer exist. This only ties up your benefits in court or to an estate. Back To Top

Battalion Chief Dennis Cross 2nd Annual 5K Eagle Run
October 12th at 10:30am. Starts at Islip Terrace Fire Department, 264 Beaver Dam Road, Islip Terrace, NY. Entry fee pre-registration is $15. If you run, walk, or just stand there and cheer, your entry fee will guarantee you an official “Eagle Run†t-shirt. Awards to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place male and female as well as 1st place firefighter and police officer. Entries must be postmarked no later than October 2nd. Late registration and race day entry is $20. 21st Annual Francis M. McCabe, Sr. Memorial 5K Run
To benefit Project Children, Sunday, October 5th at12 noon. Registration is 10 am. Victory Field in Forest Park (Woodhaven Blvd & Myrtle Ave). Kiddie run registration 9:45am, race 10am. Adults $20, includes tee shirt for the first 200 runners. Children are free for those who parents have registered for the 5K; $5.00 for those whose parents have not registered for the 5K. Medals for top 3 finishers in age/gender categories with special memorial medals in NYPD/Law Enforcement, FDNY and Emergency Medical categories. September Space’s Second Annual Iron Skillet Cook Off is scheduled for November 3 from 7pm to 11pm at Metronome Restaurant at 915 Broadway at West 21st Street. Proceeds to go to September Space, a community center and support network for volunteers, rescue and relief workers and those impacted by the attacks on the World Trade Center.
